AI Agents for Nonprofits: Building Trusted Assistants for Mission Critical Work

An agent is not a chatbot. The difference matters: a chatbot responds, an agent acts — perceiving context, planning, taking steps toward a goal with humans approving the important ones.

This session covers the agent loop (Perceive, Plan, Act, Reflect), the three pillars of trusted agent design, and includes a live build of a working agent in Microsoft Copilot — no IT department required, no code, just a deliberate decision about what work you are willing to delegate and what guardrails belong around it.

You will leave with a real working agent built during the session, plus a governance framework you can defend to your board.

This is the third of a four part series (May 28, June 4, 11, 18); you can attend one or all.

Hosted by the Sacramento Mountains Foundation. Presented by Melanie Moeller, GenFutures Lab.
