New mexico thrives is a movement for change in the form of a state nonprofit association
With the new tax law, changes to the Affordable Care Act, and efforts to undermine the special status of nonprofits, our work is going to change.
The New Mexico Revenue Stabilization & Tax Policy Committee is preparing for tax reform in 2019. Reach out to your NM House Representative and Senator: Take them on a tour of your programs, if that's possible. Meet or talk to them, if tours are not possible. Educate them about your organization's work and contribution to the community.
Protect nonprofit non-partisanship: Call your Representative and Senator to tell them "The vast nonprofit community strongly supports the Johnson Amendment, the longstanding law that protects charitable organizations, houses of worship, and foundations from caustic, partisan politics. I expect you to oppose any appropriations bill rider that would repeal or weaken the Johnson Amendment. Nonprofits are counting on the [Representative/Senator] to preserve nonprofit nonpartisanship.”
